"Like Annie Lennox mixed with the storytelling part of a great country singer," said one indie reviewer of Calley Bliss' songwriting. And her voice? "It’s clearly trained yet still full of emotion, gripping and enchanting and powerful in that Aretha Franklin kind of way, spot-on for a jazz number, an R&B groove or a mournful ballad," as revered by Becky Fine-Firesheets, editor-in-chief of "Knocks From the Underground," an online music review site and blog based out of Brooklyn, NY. Calley Bliss is an artist and vocalist with a long career ahead of her. Bliss is young, eager, and passionate like the pups of the indie music scene, but with the credentials of a degree in jazz (University of North Texas), and a maturity in her sound, writing, and lyrics that suggest she's no short-fire burn out. Relocating to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul in 2013, Bliss self-released her first album, "Pigeonholed" in March of 2010, which was a product of her time in the Brooklyn Singer/Songwriter scene. It shows the breadth of her abilities, both as a vocalist and a composer, and manages to please a wide variety of musical palates while retaining the one-ness that is clearly and uniquely her own.
