The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is committed to a free and just society based on solidarity, to a vibrant and strong democracy, to decent work and international responsibility. We, that is about 1,500 employees worldwide, do this through political education, political consulting, the promotion of talented students, international cooperation in more than 100 countries and through our Archive of Social Democracy. Bonn and Berlin are the two main locations, along with 16 other sites in Germany. We support around 2,800 scholarship holders annually. Our library contains 1 million publications and we issue around 260 of our own publications annually. More than 100,000 people take part in our events in Germany every year. Our archive material – laid side by side – would amount to 56 kilometers. The FES is the oldest political foundation in Germany – founded in 1925 and named after the first democratically elected Reich President Friedrich Ebert. As a non-profit institution, we shape our work independently and autonomously.
