NewPhone Wireless is an Eligible Telecommunications Carrier (ETC) offering Lifeline Wireless Service to qualified low-income Louisiana (LA) residents. The Lifeline Program was originally established in 1985 to ensure that low-income consumers have access to affordable, landline telephone service. In 2005, the Lifeline Program were expanded to include wireless service. Today, the Lifeline Program provides discounts on voice or broadband Internet access service, as well as on bundled service, to ensure that all Americans can take advantage of the benefits that voice and broadband Internet access service bring, including being able to connect to jobs, family, education, health care providers, and emergency services. The Lifeline Program is support by the Universal Service Fund (USF) and administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) with oversight from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
