The Pure North S'Energy Foundation is a not-for-profit organization seeking to help Canadians feel better and live longer. The Pure North program effectively works to prevent chronic disease through research-based nutrition and education and does so in a cost conscious manner. Our founder and Chief Accountability officer is Allan Markin, a well-known Calgarian, philanthropist and co-founder of Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL). Pure North evolved from an employee health and wellness program that was offered to employees of CNRL and their families. It now operates as a separate foundation that has been expanded to include participants from the public and is offered at no charge to populations who are considered at-risk or vulnerable. Research has demonstrated nutrition is one of the most important determinants of health for preventing chronic disease. Pure North team members work to assess participant's health status and work with participants to achieve optimal nutrient levels. The main areas of focus for the program are health education, vitamin D awareness and optimization, nutritional supplements, heavy metal reduction, thyroid assessment and heart health. The benefits of the program are being seen in improvements in physical status and emotional, mental and overall well-being. Pure North research, independently verified, also demonstrates that the program is reducing the rates of diabetes and chronic disease.
