Established over four decades ago, the Group has built long-standing partnerships with some of the world’s leading hospitality and restaurant brands. Since 1982, SME Group has operated the KFC brand under franchise in partnership with Yum Brands. The Group has also been involved with the Pizza Hut brand for many years and currently operates Pizza Hut in partnership with LongRange Capital. The Group entered the hotel sector in 1989 with the Comfort Inn brand in partnership with Choice Hotels International and expanded its hospitality portfolio in 2012 through the Holiday Inn brand in partnership with InterContinental Hotels Group. In 2021, SME Group further strengthened its hotel investment portfolio through the acquisition of an independent hotel in Luton, Bedfordshire, which is currently being repositioned for future growth. Beyond hospitality and food service, SME Group has continued to diversify its portfolio. In 2019, the Group entered the flexible workspace sector through a partnership with IWG Plc, opening its first Regus business centre. Since 2008, SME Group also operates the Costa Coffee brand across London and the Home Counties in partnership with the Coca Cola Company.
