LIMS has a singular goal, to create skills that are immediately applicable in the film, television and new media industries. We do this by immersing the student in an intense three month, 40-60 hours per week schedule of hands on training. Students choose a career path that most suits their skills and desires. They are trained in basics within the classroom and then put directly into the field working in a real film production. This production is not a typical “student film.” It is a professional feature film, approximately 90 minutes in length. Students take advantage of training from department 'Keys"; utilizing stages, production offices, feature production equipment, computer stations, edit bays and mixing rooms. Each student will actually perform all of the duties of the chosen career path, i.e.: carpenters build sets, electricians set lighting, camera persons shoot footage, editors edit scenes, animators create visuals, production personnel negotiate prices, book actors and create budgets. At the end of the training, each graduating student will have attained the prerequisite skills needed to obtain a paid job on a film, television or new media production as well as a legitimate film credit and IMDB page.
