People have opinions on every issue, a very small part of which becomes available to a wider audience, thus limiting the climate of opinion to a few column-inches or aired minutes in print- and electronic media. Blogging dissolves this limit and empowers people to enrich this climate of opinion. Sachalayatan aims to let people harness the power of expression, to evoke and provoke thoughts, to establish multitude of viewpoints and to encourage people to think instead of resorting to or cling to familiar opinions and conclusions. Our society is often riddled with issues that require passionate debates. In the confinement of print- and electronic media, participation in this debate are often not physically possible for a large mass. Sachalayatan has been active for four years in rendering this participation possible to an audience of millions of Bengalis spread over more than 150 countries in the world. Barring the participation of apologists of war criminals and religious fundamentalists, Sachalayatan has grown to be the most vibrant community of people to discuss matters on the internet, in Bangla, since 2007. Bringing experts and witnesses together, Sachalayatan has made its appeal to the cogitative quarters in Bangladesh and beyond.
