AI industries describe what a company does, in more detail than the Industry filter. You can filter by them in Companies and People, and see them on every company panel.
Before you begin
- Any workspace member can use them.
- Credits: none. Filtering by AI industry and seeing the labels is free, like the rest of search.
What AI industries are
- There are 16 industries and 110 sub-industries. Each industry groups several sub-industries.
- A company can have several AI industries, both industries and sub-industries. The company's main business comes first.
- Labels are assigned by AI, based on what the company does.
- Labels are still being added. Some companies show none yet.
Where you see them
Company panel: the AI industries row sits right under Industry. It shows six tags and "+N" for the rest. In the App, click a tag to apply it as a filter. In the Chrome extension, the same row shows plain tags, which you cannot click.
Tables and exports: the AI industries column in company tables and exports, and the Company AI industries column in people tables and exports. Neither column is shown by default. Add them from Column settings in a table, or under Select columns to export when you export.
Filter by AI industry
- Open Companies or People.
- In the filter rail, open AI industry. It sits right after Industry.
- Switch between Include and Exclude.
- Search or scroll the list, then tick what you want:
- Tick an industry to select all its sub-industries. A fully ticked industry shows as one chip with the industry's name.
- Tick single sub-industries to match only those.
Results update as you go. Combine it with other filters, such as Employee Headcount or Job Title.
Use it in the API
- The company field is
ai_industries. - The filter is
company_ai_industry, in Company Search and People Search. - The values come from
GET /v2/enums/ai_industries. See AI Industries in the API docs.

FAQ
Why does a company show no AI industries?
Labels are added gradually, so a company that has not been labelled yet shows none. A company without labels does not match when you include an AI industry, and is not removed when you exclude one.
What is the difference between Industry and AI industry?
Industry is LinkedIn's industry list, and each company has one value. AI industry is a separate list that an AI assigns from what the company does, and a company can have several. Use Industry to match LinkedIn's categories and AI industry for a finer description of the business.
